Your corner beer distributor would be able to sell wine and liquor if a Hershey-area lawmaker has his way. State Rep. John Payne, R-Derry Twp., said he will soon introduce a bill to allow the roughly 1,200 beer distributors statewide to apply for a free permit to carry wine and spirits.

With more than 1,200 beer distributors across Pennsylvania, there’s sure to be one within a few minutes of your home offering a fantastic selection of domestic and foreign beers as well as craft and micro-brews and related beverages and party supplies. The real key to consumer convenience would be a change in the law to allow distributors to sell beer by the six pack as well as by the case.
