The money generated by a beer distributorship originates in the community where it’s located and goes right back into the local economy because there is no such thing in Pennsylvania as “chain ownership” of distributorships.  As local businesses, beer distributors create an estimated 10,000 jobs in Pennsylvania. They are contributing to the community and paying local taxes.

As specialty stores, beer distributors are the best source of fresh, micro-brews, craft-brewed beverages and imported beers and ales.

By law and by design, beer distributors are not predatory. They don’t impact other merchants negatively, the way that big box stores can. Distributors are limited in the type of items they can sell -- including soda, chips, lottery tickets and tobacco. Because of these limitations, distributors do not compete with other specialty stores, box retailers, grocery stores or gas stations. A healthy beer distributor network across the state is an economic positive as well as a convenient source of competitively priced malt beverages.
